Magical Flower Press

Saving a moment of beauty — and making a wish.

There is something magical about preserving a flower. This simple activity invites children to slow down, notice beauty, and hold it gently.

You’ll Need

  • Fallen flowers, petals, or leaves

  • Sheets of paper

  • A heavy book

What To Do

  1. Collect a few small flowers or leaves during a walk. Fallen ones are perfect.

  2. Place them between sheets of paper and tuck them inside a heavy book.

  3. As your child lays each one down, invite them to whisper a wish or kind thought — for a friend, a grandparent, a pet, or the Earth.

  4. Check together in one to two weeks. Once dried, the flowers can decorate a bookmark, greeting card, or nature journal page.

Why It Matters

This simple craft becomes a quiet ritual of gratitude and patience. It teaches children that beauty can be noticed, cared for, and remembered.
